Illegal lumber seized in Bataraza

An inter-agency environmental task force confiscated 1,449 board feet of assorted lumber in Sitio Onggong, Barangay Tagnato, Bataraza on Wednesday, June 28.

The abandoned items were recovered by an enforcement team from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), 24th Marine Company, Philippine National Police, and barangay officials.

The confiscated lumber were turned over to the DENR, according to Captain Wanel Ansa, MBLT 12 spokesperson.

Charges are being prepared against the suspects for violation of Presidential Decree 705 or the Forestry Code of the Philippines.
