Governor Alvarez inks friendship agreement anew with China

Provincial government plans to help PAGASA during natural weather disturbances

In his recent official visit to the province of Hainan, People’s Republic of China, Palawan Governor Jose Alvarez has signed another sisterhood agreement to strengthen bilateral relations between the two local governments.

As shared by Provincial Information Officer Atty. Gil Acosta Jr, and through an official statement released to the media, the said agreement will highlight tourism promotion and local economy development among the two provinces. Rooted on the guiding principles of the China-Philippines Joint Statement, it is geared to promote friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding between Hainan and Palawan.

The Foreign Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Hainan led by General Wang Sheng has visited Palawan last February 2017.

According to Governor Alvarez, the said partnership will complement local initiatives on promoting Palawan as the ‘World’s Best Island Destination’ among its provincial neighbors in Asia.
