A faulty extension wire caused the fire that razed 23 houses in Zone 3, Brgy. Liwanag, Puerto Princesa City last week.

Fire Officer 1 Cromwell Suico, spokesperson of the Bureau of Fire Protection said that their investigation on the cause of the fire found out that it started in the house of Jessica Suico, 44 years old which was converted into a boarding house with five rooms.

Suico said that the rooms are connected by an extension wire attached to the ceiling bulb and light bulb.

The findings, he said, were based on the statements of three witnesses. The final damage assessment of the fire is P2, 749,356 based on the affidavits submitted by the 38 families affected by the fire.

Of the 38 families, 23 were owners, seven were sharers and eight were boarders.
