The city police authorities arrested on Monday an alleged bogus wedding coordinator who had reportedly been gate-crashing on weddings to steal things from unsuspecting victims.
The suspect, identified as Abigail Asheeba, 28, and a resident of San Miguel, Puerto Princesa City had already victimized several people.
Asheeba’s modus, according to a police report, was to act as a wedding coordinator, find local clients and afterward during the event, when everyone is busy, start stealing things from the wedding’s guests.
PINSP Pearl Marzo of the City Police office on Wednesday said that authorities received a report from a concerned citizen confirming the suspect’s residence.
“Nakatanggap ‘yung ating tropa ng tip kung nasaan si Asheeba. Nakilala niya ‘yung muka sa picture sa social media. Nag-conduct kaagd tayo ng operasyon kaya siya naaresto,” Marzo said.
Prior to the arrest, the suspect was caught stealing a cell phone and money during a wedding event in San Jose Parish Church.
Marzo also said that the suspect has a pending warrant of arrest for the crime of Qualified Theft issued by Judge Romeo Descallar of RTC Branch 19, of Pagadian City which they believed she was running from.
