An escaped convict of the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm voluntarily surrendered to authorities through RMN- DWAR in Puerto Princesa City noontime Thursday.
The convict was identified as Arnel Padillo, 29 of Cebu, and serving sentence for robbery with homicide.
Padillo, detained at the Inagawan Sub-Colony, escaped last August 25 after he was asked by a prison guard to wash his clothes.
It was during his hiding in Isaub, Aborlan town that he learned that his sister in Cebu was raped.
“I missed my family especially my four children,” Padillo claimed.
Fearing for his life, he asked the help of a concerned citizen who got in touch with RMN so that he can surrender.
Padillo surrendered to operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Palawan and RMN- Palawan.
He requested that he be turned over to the Central Colony in Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm fearing that he will be in danger if he s returned to his previous detention area at the Inagawan Sub-Colony.
Because he escaped, Padillo may face penalty.
- Also facing investigation is the prison guard who was on the duty at the time of his escape.
