The peak season of tourist arrivals is already here and one of the “most visited” places in the country is the beautiful town of El Nido.
According to Arvin Acosta, municipal tourism officer of the town, like the usual, they are anticipating for the influx of tourists from different parts of the world to spend their Christmas season and summer in the different sites of El Nido.
The local government has deployed its monitoring team to different areas to ensure the safety and security of tourists.
Recently a Training on Water Safety and Rescue was conducted through the initiative of the Department of Health and Philippine Coastguard participated by the boatmen and tour guides. The training will be a continuing activity with the local tour operators and hotels to enhance the skills of their personnel in responding to emergencies.
“Plano naming magkaroon ng refresher course para sa ganun ay laging mare-rehearse ang kanilang mga skills pagdating sa rescue and first aid response,” Acosta said.
Based on the records of MTO, the town has around 200 tour guides and 120 boatmen.
The MTO has recorded a total of 82, 987 tourist arrival in 2014. Sixty percent of tourists were from abroad while the 40% were locals. This number might have increased this year due to observable influx of visitors.
