The Department of Tourism (DOT) on Friday re-launched its “Bring home a friend to the Philippines” program aimed to boost tourism in the country.
DOT-MIMAROPA Regional Director Danilo Intong said the program aims to replicate the government’s successful campaign done in the past.
“Way back 1994, maganda ang result nito, so why not revive it? to increase our tourist arrivals,” he said.
He said that it is a big help to the provincial government to invite tourist through this activity.
It would be a different venue kung dadalhin pa natin sa ibang destinations in MIMAROPA na it would be more meaningful na lahat ng Palaweño magtulong-tulong,” Intong said.
The program is a referral incentive scheme where locals act as sponsors and invite foreign to visit the country.
It also features incentives where sponsors who have brought in visitors are entered in a raffle, with the winners to be drawn on April 15. Winning sponsors can win a Megaworld’s Eastwood Le Grand condominium unit (1st price), brand new Toyota Vios (2nd price) and a gift certificate worth P200,000 from Duty Free.
Three invited tourists will also be picked to win an international round-trip ticket, domestic tickets to Palawan, Cebu or Davao and a free stay in various resorts including El Nido Hotel and Resort.
“Para to encourage more ang participation ng mga Pilipino nilagyan natin ng mga prices,” Intong said.
Puerto Princesa City Mayor Lucilo Bayron lauded the program, stating it will help improve tourism activity in the city.
“Kung half nito (Palaweños) will bring home a friend makakadagdag ito sa turista na dito sa Puerto Princesa tourism is the number one industry,” Bayron said.
The Bring home a friend to the Philippines (BHAF) is a referral incentive program which was started on 1994 wherein the Filipino (sponsor) will have to invite foreign friends (invitee) to visit the country.
Records of the provincial tourism office showed 1.2 million tourist arrivals in 2016.
Interested sponsors may visit the BHAF official website www.bringhomeafriend.online for the application procedures
