It’s about five months before the full implementation of K to 12 Program but the Department of Education in the Province of Palawan still awaits for the textbooks and laboratory equipment which might cause a little delay in the execution of the program.
DepEd Palawan Division Superintendent Servillano Arzaga however said that despite the possible delay they will exhaust all efforts to meet the deadline.
“Pinaghahandaan palang ng DEPED iyong mga equipment like textbooks and laboratory pero kaya namang ihabol hindi bago magsimula ang klase ng Grade-11,” Arzaga said.
Arzaga added that completion of additional classrooms is underway and hiring of additional teachers is pending until hiring of new applicants is approved.
“Inaasahan natin na mga bandang February o March iyong advice para mabuksan na natin ang hiring ng mga guro sa senior high school. Wala pang bumababang utos sa ngayon,” he said.
The DepEd recently faced a blunder for failing to provide textbooks to Grade 7 students as the printing did not push through due to wrong textbook content. This compelled students to shoulder the re-printing of textbooks.
