The DENR’s El Nido-Taytay Managed Protected Resource Area have confiscated 2 units of chainsaw and 530 board feet of abandoned assorted lumber, before “Christmas break”.
One chainsaw was recovered in Bgy. Manlag, El Nido from Larry Canar (45 y/o) and his helper and allegedly owned by a certain Jun-jun Gabuat while authorities has yet to disclose the identity of suspects for illegal use of the other unit of chainsaw.
According to Forest Ranger Bienvenido Veguilla Jr., their operations were successfully conducted through the help of Lawin, a cyber tracker device.
Authorities are preparing charges against persons responsible in violation of section 7 of RA 9175 (Chainsaw Act), section 68 of PD 705 (Forestry Code) and section 20 of RA 7586 (NIPAS Act).
