OIC-Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer Pablo Cruz has been designated as the new protected area superintendent of the El Nido Taytay Managed Resource Protected Area (ENTMRPA).
Cruz replaced Alexander Mancio who was reassigned by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to the Malampaya Sound Protected Landscape and Seascape based in Taytay, Palawan.
DENR Assistant Regional Director Nelson Gorospe presided over the turnover ceremony.
Cruz will be assisted by Caroline Esmenda who is the assistant protected area superintendent.
ENTMRPA which was established in 1998 covers an area of 90,321 hectares with a habitat type that includes mangrove forests, seagrass and seaweed beds, coral reefs and terrestrial forest.
Key practices in managing the protected area include law enforcement, capacity building for Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) member, National Greening Program, information and education campaign, data collection and management planning, turtle management, training and deputizing community rangers, infrastructure development, trail construction, among others.
