To address traffic congestion in the main thoroughfares, City Traffic Management Office and Department of Public Works and Highways 3rd Engineering District are eyeing to widen the alternate routes.
According to CTMO, the increasing volume of vehicles in the city and narrow roads caused heavier traffic in the main streets of the city.
Engr. Arthur A. Torillo, Engineer II of DPWH 3rd Engineering District said that they are currently doing road widening starting at the highway in front of Robinsons Mall going to Bgy. Sta. Lourdes.
Engr. Torillo laid out their plan to decongest the city traffic.
“Kapag tapos na ang road widening, maglalagay tayo na mga area for loading and unloading. Tatanggalin na rin natin d’yan ang mga vendors sa tabi ng kalsada at ililipat sila sa maayos na lugar upang mabawas-bawasan din ‘yung bigat ng trapiko,” Torillo said.
The DPWH allotted P30M for the road widening project but this amount is not given to the 3rd Engineering District in full thus they cannot tell the exact date of its completion.
CTMO also eyes to prohibit the tricycles to take the main roads just to ease up the traffic problem in the city that annoys motorists.
