The provincial board has asked 1st district Rep. Franz Josef Alvarez to source funds for the construction of a Regional Trial Court and Municipal Circuit Court building in Roxas and Taytay.
Board Member Roseller Pineda told Palawan News that the trial courts are important as they will ease the need of residents in the municipalities.
“Alam n’yo naman ang justice natin ngayon laging delay, tapos kung nanggaling ka pa ng Cuyo pagdating dito postponed ang hearing mo, [then] babalik ka nanaman ng Cuyo,” he said.
Brooke’s Point, Roxas, and Coron have assigned judges. However, since no courtrooms are available, hearings are still done in Puerto Princesa City.
“Dahil sa walang building hindi na-materialize at hindi na-realize ang ganyang sitwasyon kaya kapag naghe-hearing sila dito pa rin sa Justice Hall. Kaya ito ipinasa natin para doon na sa tamang puwesto kung saan sila dapat,” he added.
Pineda clarified that the circuit court will handle different cases of municipalities that are adjacent each other.
“Yong iba circuit court kasi nga minsan may nagco-combine na ibang lugar. Halimbawa, pupunta doon sa Coron ‘yong taga Busuanga, ‘yong Taytay at Araceli mga ganoon,” he said.
