Anti-illegal drugs operatives in Puerto Princesa arrested a couple Tuesday for alleged possession of an estimated 100 grams of shabu (Methamphetamine hydrochloride) and a gun in Barangay Maningning.
They were identified as Jayme Miguillo Millares, Jr., 31, tricycle driver, and a resident of Barangay Sicsican, and his 17-yr. old girlfriend identified only as “Rose,” who is a resident of Brooke’s Point.
PALAWAN NEWS does not publish the names of minors allegedly involve in the commission of crimes.
They were arrested following an operation carried out by a combined team of operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (CADSOTF).
Allegedly, the couple were arrested after a tip off was given by a concerned citizen.
Gracel Lanu, Regional Information Officer of PDEA told PALAWAN NEWS that Rose was supposed to receive a package from Manila from a forwarding company in Puerto Princesa, and that it contains a radio speaker, where illegal drugs were hidden.
Confiscated from her were two transparent plastic sachets that contain white crystalline powder that anti-illegal drugs operatives suspected as shabu. The total gram was estimated to cost around one million pesos.
From Millares’ possession, the joint team also confiscated a .22 caliber that has six bullets, and a sachet of marijuana (one gram).
Charges of violation of sections 5 and 11 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act will be filed against them for possession of illegal drugs.
Millares was also charge for violating the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition for possessing the .22 caliber without proper documents.
Lanu said they also discovered that he has a pending warrant of arrest for murder, and that authorities suspect him as a “gun-for-hire.”
