The Department of Labor and Employment in the Province of Palawan revealed that most of the complaints they received were from construction workers and security guards in the province.
Peter James Cortazar, head of DOLE- Palawan Field Office said that out of 572 complaints received in 2015 most these were from the construction workers who were paid below the daily minimum wage worse, the payment is always delayed.
The security guards on the other hand, complaint against their employers who failed to give their 13th month pay. Other problems brought to them are the lack of other benefits like non-payment of employees’ share for Social Security System, PHILHEALTH and PAG-IBIG.
The DOLE-Palawan is intensifying its monitoring on the compliance to Labor Code of employers.
He warned employers to provide the rightful benefits of their employees else they face sanctions or imprisonment and closure of business
