Comelec vehicle injures pedestrian

A Comelec deputized vehicle hits a pedestrian at Barangay San Pedro.

A worker from Barangay San Pedro is in serious condition after he was hit by a Comelec-deputized vehicle along San Pedro National Highway during the early hours of the voting.

Police investigator PO3 Visepfeld Songcayaon identified the victim as Nelson Aguilar Flores, an employee of the Palawan Animal Clinic in Barangay San Pedro. He was reportedly hit by a pick-up vehicle while crossing the national highway.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident, Louis Serenas, 62, was reportedly delivering election paraphernalia when the accident happened. Serenas told Palawan News he did not immediately see the victim who suddenly crossed the road.

“Pagdating ko diyan sa may San Pedro, merong naka-park na sasakyan sa gilid, eh siyempre ako sa gitna ako dumadaan. Biglang may sumulpot na tao, hindi ko siya napansin,” he said.

Songcayaon of City PNP said the victim was rushed to Ospital ng Palawan and was in serious condition at press time. He said the driver involved will face a charge of reckless imprudence resulting in serious physical injury.
