COMELEC reminds public on deadlines for barangay and SK registration

Palawan Comelec reminds public to register early.

Exactly 10 days before the deadline for voter’s registration for the upcoming October 2017 Barangay and SK Elections, the Provincial COMELEC through Spokesperson Jomel Ordas reminded the public of the April 29 deadline.

 

Ordas said there might be a significant increase of people flocking to the COMELEC offices in the remaining 10 days of registration.

 

Based on records as of April 15, the City of Puerto Princesa still has the highest number of voter applications received by COMELEC office. Applicants from the city totals to 8,231, or 27.42% of the 30,018 total voter applications received for the whole province.

 

Ordas said that among the 23 towns, Taytay has the highest number of voter applications at 2,589. It is followed by Bataraza (2,563), Brooke’s Point (2,490), Roxas (1,654), Quezon (1,649), Coron (1,488), Narra (1,417), Aborlan (1,162), and El Nido (1,156).

 

Ordas also explained that 53.50% of total voter applications received in Palawan are Applications for New Registration, wherein 10,109 of which are applications as barangay voters aged 18 years old. 5,951 are applications as SK voters aged 15-17 years old.

 

“COMELEC is hopeful that all concerned individuals will really take time to be registered before the deadline,” said Ordas.
