The City Traffic Management Office (CTMO) announced on Monday it will start its strict implementation of an existing local ordinance covering motorcycles, tricycles and top-down vehicles.
In a public memorandum, CTMO head PSupt. David Martinez (ret.) said the enforcement campaign will check on motorcycles with open pipes or without prescribed mufflers and side mirrors as covered by City Ordinances 819 and 821.
Under the ordinance, motorcycle drivers with open pipe exhausts will be fined P2,500 on the first offense, P3,500 on the second offense and impoundment of the vehicle, and P5,000 on the third offense, including impoundment.
Missing side mirrors will be fined P500 on the first offense for each missing mirror, P1,500 on the second offense and P2,500 on the third offense.
