The City government of Puerto Princesa is seeking a budget of P637M from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to complete the on-going construction of the Puerto Princesa Integrated Agricultural Center in Barangay Irawan.
Atty. Arnel Pedrosa, City Legal officer and acting City Administrator, said recently that a proposal request budget, addressed to Secretary Benjamin Diokno of DBM has already been prepared by the City mayor’s office.
The proposal budget letter states that instead of having a normal Agri-Trade center, the City government has decided to develop the entire 13-hectare land area into an Integrated Agriculture Center where producers and buyers all over Palawan, not just in Puerto Princesa can meet and transact businesses.
The budget request noted that the provincial government has donated the 13-hectare land.
The bulk of the total proposed budget, P297M, is allocated for the site development alone while a total of P110M will be spent for the construction of the New Public Market. The rest will be spent for the construction of a restaurant and souvenir shop, a PNP building, a dormitory, a bus and jeepney terminal, an administration building and a slaughterhouse intended for meat vendors.
