US, JAPAN, PHL MILITARY EXERCISES IN PALAWAN START

TURTLES IN RAID TO BE SENT TO CHINA

Marcaida said they believed the turtles were collected mainly from various parts of northern Palawan where the endangered species are believed to be abundant.

The black market rate in China for these species is around $200 a kilo, Marcaida said.

CACAO FARMING ON THE RISE IN PALAWAN

Cacao farming is fast gaining many adherents among farmers in Palawan.

Dr. Myrna O. Lacanilao, Overall Program Manager of the Livelihood Project Management Unit of the provincial government told Palawan News that last year 1,000 hectares have been planted with cacao in the towns of Bataraza and Rizal.
