The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has filed a criminal complaint for murder and robbery against at least six members of the New People’s Army’s so-called Bienvenido Ballaver Command, for the April 14 killing of Palawan Rescue 165 Chief Gilbert Baaco.
The suspects covered in the complaint included Jaime Encomienda Saavedra Jr. alias Jun Saavedra, Vincent Libuna Lozada alias Ka Allan Libuna, alias Ka Allan Lozada, alias Ka Vincent Libuna, Donna Quidayan alias Mary Ann Reyes, alias Ka Lota, alias Ka Dara, alias Ka Teri, alias Ka Pauline, Norberto Paano alias Bornok, Salvador Luminoso alias Ka Badong, alias Ka Denmark, alias Ka Sandra, and unidentified members of the NPA.
Prosecutor Monica Magbiray-Pe said the complaint was filed before the Prosecutor’s Office last June 22. She added that they will immediately issue subpoena to the concerned persons and will wait for 10 days for their counter-affidavit, and subsequently determine if there is probable cause within 60 days.
Palawan Governor Jose Alvarez told Palawan News that he is optimistic that justice will be served to Baaco.
“Soon, the masterminds will be unmasked,” he said.
Baaco was shot dead on Good Friday at his residence at Barong-Barong, Brooke’s Point. The suspects have taken three firearms of the victim, according to police investigators.
