Candidates for provincial seats in Palawan were the early birds during the first day of the filing of candidacies, Monday.
At 8:50 am, incumbent Palawan Governor Jose Chavez Alvarez filed his CoC under the Liberal Party and his locally led Partidong Pagbabago ng Palawan (PPP).
Alvarez will run with incumbent Vice Governor Dennis Socrates and incumbents Cherry Pie Acosta, Leoncio Ola, Roseller Pineda and David Francis Ponce De Leon for northern Palawan while those for the southern of the province are Sharon Abiog-Onda, Marivic Roxas, Sunny Batul, and Modesto Rodriguez while Al Rama for the 3rd District.
Also with Alvarez are incumbent Representatives Fredrirck Abueg (2nd dist.) and Franz Joseph Alvarez (1st dist.).
Former Vice Governor Art Ventura will challenge incumbent Alvarez for the province’ top post in 2016.
Ventura, also a former board member for the first district filed his CoC as an independent candidate at 10:28 a.m.
At 10:20 am, incumbent Rep. Douglas Hagedorn also filed his CoC under LP.
