The Philippine Navy’s first landing dock vessel, BRP-Tarlac (LD-601), arrived in Puerto Princesa City Wednesday for a 3-day port call and as part of its first logistic run mission for this year.
Defense officials said the naval vessel brought logistical supplies for the 3rd Marine Brigade deployed in both northern and southern Palawan, operational supplies for the Naval Special Operations Unit-4 and other cargoes.
Lito Lagadia PN (GSC), Commanding Officer of BRP-Tarlac,said.
Puerto Princesa City Mayor Lucilo Bayron led city officials in welcoming the naval vessel.
The BRP-Tarlac is the first of the two landing dock vessels of the PN commissioned in June 2016.
It can perform as the PN’s floating Command and Control center particularly during humanitarian assistance and disaster response and other purposes such as military sealift and transport mission, according to Cmdr Lagadia.
BRP Tarlac is slated to hold an ‘open house’ on Thursday, January 11, to showcase its capabilities and to give local residents an opportunity to experience a guided shipboard tour.
