Three soldiers were wounded in a New People’s Army (NPA) ambush of a marine convoy Saturday morning at Sitio Italpak, Barangay Dumarao in Roxas, Palawan and not in the town of San Vicente as earlier reported by Western Command.
WESCOM spokesperson Capt. Cherryl Tindog said the ambush was staged by suspected NPAs on a 2-vehicle convoy of the Joint Task Group North (JTGN) of MBLT-12 at around 6:30 AM.
Tindog said they have received an initial information from JTGN that the convoy was able to extricate immediately from the ambush area.
There was no reported casualty from either side as troops of JTGN launched a pursuit operation against the rebels.
