Police arrested early Monday Puerto Princesa City Vice Mayor Luis Marcaida III following a dawn raid in his house by the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) based in Camp Crame.
The raiding team, led by PSupt. Enrico Rigoros and backed by the city police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents, served a search warrant issued by Judge Reynaldo Alhambra from the National Capital Region.
The raiding team arrested Marcaida following the discovery of 30 plastic sachets of shabu reportedly found behind his portrait hanging on a wall inside his residence. A .22 caliber gun was also retrieved by the raiding team as evidence.
Marcaida was handcuffed and read his rights following the discovery of the suspected shabu, in the presence of his family. Authorities said he will be charged for violation of RA 9165.
Marcaida told reporters while the search was ongoing that men in bonnets entered his house first before the raiding team arrived.
