Board Member Eduardo Modesto Rodriguez filed a resolution on Tuesday supporting the implementation of the National Nutrition Council’s Philippine plan of action programs and its intervention in the province.

Rodriguez said there is a pressing need to address the lingering problems of over-nutrition and under-nutrition in many parts of the province.

The Provincial Nutrition Office, in a survey conducted last year, listed down the municipalities as Kalayaan, Cuyo, Coron, Aborlan, Rizal, Balabac, Araceli, Busuanga, Agutaya, Roxas, Linapacan, and El Nido as having the highest malnutrition prevalence rates in the province.

“There is a call to the provinces with a high malnutrition prevalence rate to address,” Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez said the National Nutrition Council has program packages that can be adopted in the local situation.
