Authorities inquest boat operator, minor for attempted human trafficking in Bataraza


The Palawan PNP confirmed that two suspects have been inquested for attempted trafficking in person of six women. The said victims were rescued in an operation of the Provincial Law Enforcement Task Force at Sitio Kinurong, Riotuba, Bataraza on Friday night, September 30.

According to Police Inspector Ric Ramos, Palawan Police Provincial Office Spokesperson, the “boat operator” waived his rights under Article 125 and preferred to be detained at the Bataraza Municipal Police Station, while the minor will be turned-over to DSWD.

Insp Ramos added that the victims knew that they will be transported to Sendakan, Malaysia.

The six rescued women were turned-over to Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.

The said figures will be added to 62 previously-rescued victims of human trafficking in Palawan from January-September of this year based on the record of Provincial Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking.
