Aborlan Councilor Arnel Ortega has blamed the town’s road contractors for the recent vehicular accidents there, which he attributed to the improper placement of road safety signs in construction areas.
Speaking during the town council’s Question Hour on Monday, Ortega claimed that several accidents have occurred because the contractors failed to properly put up road signs particularly on narrow bridges and accident-prone areas.
Talagang madidisgrasya ka niyan,” Ortega said.
DPWH District Engineer Arthur Torillo acknowledged that road management and traffic signs are the responsibility of the contractors, even as he promised to the Council the agency will take them to the task.
“Ang contractor ay walang maidadahilan, responsibilidad nila lahat ng damages sa trabaho,” he said.
Torillo also requested the town council to pass resolution addressed to the DPWH for the installation of additional road signs particularly near the schools along the national highway.
