Officials of the Bataraza Municipal Police and the Municipal Agricultural Office are now pointing at each other on where the 70 sacks of rice earlier confiscated by authorities are.

The 70 sacks of rice confiscated Monday on board M/V Saviel at the Rio Tuba port in Bataraza town.

Senior Insp. Starky Timbancaya, Bataraza police chief said that after their investigation, they turned- over the alleged rice to the custody of the Municipal Agricultural Office for further investigation.

But, Virginia Genilan, municipal agriculturist denied that the rice are in their custody.

“There was no formal turn over nor a letter from the police,” Genila said.

But Police Officer 1 Norman Nicolas, investigator of the case said the confiscated rice are with the Police Combat Unit in Rio Tuba.

Nicolas said that the MAO has not yet pulled out the materials because there is no available truck that can be used to transfer it to the MAO office.

The rice were confiscated by the police after the ship captain Haron Hasim of Balabac cannot present documents for it.

Sources said that the rice came from Sandakan, Malaysia and delivered to Rio Tuba port after a stopover in Cagayan De Tawi-Tawi and Marabon Island
