Boarding house and other business establishment owners will still be denied Mayor’s permit particularly Fire Safety Permit because the area outside the Palawan State University- Bgy. Tiniguiban in which their structures are built is still classified as timberland. This is despite the residential houses and establishments functioning in the area.

According to Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer Emer Garraez, there is an on-going case regarding the land that is yet to be resolved.

” Kahit ang city hall at maging dito sa aming tanggapan ay timberland pa rin,” Garraez said.

It was learned that business owners in the area only possess barangay certification to operate.

Last January 9, Saturday, a fire occurred in one of the boarding houses in the area. The said boarding house doesn’t have appropriate permits.
