It’s really a merry Christmas for Barangay Health Workers  and volunteer workers as the provincial government is set to release their honorarium for the year 2015 totaling to P15, 934, 000.00.

Board Member Leoncio Ola, chair of the Committee on Appropriations confirmed this good news after the Provincial Board approved the budget during their recent session.

The provincial government has around 10,000 BHW’s and volunteer workers who have not yet received their honorarium for this year. These volunteers are rendering work under the Provincial Health Office.

“Ito ay para sa honorarium lang ng mga volunteers. Aside from BHW’s may iba pang volunteers under the Provincial Health Office,” Ola said.

The fund will be coming from the savings incurred from unfilled positions in the provincial government.

The BHW’s honorarium is set at P300.00  per month but an increase is being considered by Governor Jose Chavez Alvarez, Ola said.

The delay in the payment of honorarium of volunteers was due to absence of allotment but Ola assured that every year the provincial government has been finding ways to pay the volunteers before the year ends.
