18 rebel returnees gets aid from Capitol

Eighteen former rebels has received P25, 000 in cash assistance from the provincial government of Palawan for the past two years.

Abigail D. Ablaña, officer in charge of the Provincial Social Welfare Development Office (PSWDO), that aside from cash assistance the former members of the New People’s Army will also get livelihood assistance.

The Western Command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines conducted a verification if they are really members of the rebel group.

The assistance, Ablana said is part of government’s efforts to encourage them to set aside their firearms and return to the government.
