The 17 candidates for the 2015 Mutya ng Palawan was formally introduced to the public.
They are Mia Bianca Baronia- Aborlan, Roselyn Esperitu- Narra, Venessa Inodio- Espaniola, Ma. April Malibaga- Quezon, Shella May Buto-Rizal, Allysa Lanzaderas- Bataraza, Kimshane Nawang- Balabac, Regina Regie Baldonado- Brookes Point, Yvette Frabrigas- Roxas, Kimberly Alcantara- Taytay, Angel Ursais- El Nido, Amay Malacad- San Vicente, Luz Abalajon- Araceli, Kimberly Yamashita- Coron, Sharla Santillan- Busuanga, Arianne Mae Tumbaga- Culion and Emilda Sheighart- Cuyo.
Only 17 of the 23 towns in Palawan sent their candidates to the annual beauty pageant.
The towns of Agutaya, Cagayancillo, Kalayaan, Linapacan, Dumaran and Magsaysay did not have candidates.
The winner will win a cash prize of P50, 000.00, the first runner up will get P40,000, the second runner up- P30,000, 3rd runner up- P20,000, 4nd runner up- P15,000 and P5,000 each as consolation prizes.
The Talent Night is set on June 18 while the Coronation Night is on June 22.
Meanwhile, Leonila Rizada- Baga, chairperson of the Mutya ng Palawan committee said that this year will hopefully be free from any controversy especially on residency issues.
“We required that each official candidate should be endorsed by the local government unit they are representing through a resolution passed by their respective Sanngunian Bayan, ” Rizada- Baga said.
The past editions of the yearly pageant of the Baragatan was rocked by residency issue of some the candidate’s because some of them are not actual residents of the towns they were representing.
This led to the passage of an ordinance authored by Board Member Richristopher Magbanua of the Sanggunian Panlalawigan calling for the organizers to ensure that the candidates comply with residency rules.
It imposes a three year ban on the candidates caught violating the residency requirements.
One of the judges of the pageant, Niel Perez, the 2014 Mr. International while the hosts are Joseph Doruelo, Mr. Global Philippines 2015 and Ms. Cindy Madduma, the Ms. Tourism Philippines.
